Eddie Blight

It is with deep regret that we must report the death of Eddie Blight on the 12th of May.

He has been involved in swimming for many years, was President of this Association in 1986 and has continued to serve on the Executive since then.

We offer sincere condolences to his wife Betty, children and grandchild. We will miss him greatly for his friendship and guidance. A longer tribute is posted on the West Midlands Region web site http://www.westmidlandswimming.org/

His funeral will be on Thursday the 29th of May at 1.15 PM at Streetly Crematorium in Sutton Coldfield

John Clifford

It is also with regret that we announce the death of John Clifford President of Warwickshire ASA in 1990 after a long spell in hospital.

Our sympathy go to his wife Dorothy, his sons, grandchildren and family.

John joined Coventry S.C. when his sons went along to learn to swim and when the Coventry clubs amalgamated he took on many tasks. Later he became President . In the later years he became more involved with Water Polo.

He joined the Warwickshire ASA becoming President in 1989.

John became a timekeeper and officiated on many occassion at all levels of events becoming one of the most popular chief timekeepers. He helped out when District Championship entries were sorted by hand working into the early hours, he was always one of the first at the pool for any events and one of the last out.

In the later years his health was not so good but he could always be found on the results table.

John will be greatly missed by his many friends he made in swimming.
