New Perpetual Trophy to be awarded from 2008.

The Corbett Challenge Trophy has been presented to the Association by the family, to mark the conclusion of Dave Corbett's Presidency during 2007. It will be awarded annually at our County Swimming Championships, to a younger age group girl contesting all three Backstroke individual events; without disqualification.

The award will be based on the highest aggregate total of BAG points scored in the heats; (or in the final if faster). BAG points are similar to GB points, but in addition to a straight computation against time recorded; BAG points also include an age correction factor. It is therefore not necessarily the case that the faster time will hold the advantage; which should make for an interesting competition.

For 2008 the qualifying ages will be 12 & 13 (Age as at 15 March 2008), and the eligible events are #-5 Heat or #-10 Final, + #-41HDW; + #-49 Heat or #-57 Final. As the Championships progress, interim point scores will be announced before and after each qualifying event. Presentation of the trophy will be between galas-5 & 6 on 15 March.
